Alliance Constellation May Change

The recent affinity shown between PDI-P and Gerindra Party has opened a chance for an electoral alliance to offer an option to form a presidential pair, especially if the prospective candidates have high electability.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The constellation of alliances between political parties may change following a meeting between Puan Maharani, who chairs the PDI-P central executive board, and Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto at the latter's residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (4/9/2022). An alliance between the two major political parties is very likely, especially if the two potential candidates fulfill the preelection opinion polls.

The meeting between the two political leaders lasted around three hours. Puan was warmly welcomed upon her arrival, with Gerindra’s musical ensemble playing the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" and the parties’ official songs.
