Some of the residents on the north coast of Karawang, West Java, are now collapsed. In the midst of a pandemic and bad weather, again they are “slipped up” by an oil spill in the sea.

Pollution caused by the oil spill in Balikpapan Bay, East Kalimantan, is also affecting seagrass and coral reef ecosystems. Data collection on the underwater ecosystems has been hampered by low visibility in the waters.

Bioremediation will begin soon to recover the waters of Balikpapan Bay, as the area has become clearer following efforts to clean up the oil spill.
