The Merdeka Belajar (Emancipated Learning) program has colored national education in the last three years. Though various breakthroughs have been made, there are still problems that have yet to be resolved.

Various teaching aids or learning mediums are used to create fun learning. Students are even more active in class. That way, learning is no longer directed by the teacher.

Improving the quality of education must first begin with guaranteeing the welfare of educators. Because in the hands of the educators, the quality of education is determined.

For the past three years, the praxis of national education seems to have been stuck inside a dark tunnel with no end, because there have been no clear signs or direction.

Today, the world is full of uncertainties and major challenges, including the inevitable digital disruption. It is certainly very strange that some experts judge education policies that invite controversy as a misstep.

Pancasila, which should become a “bridge for all differences”, continues to be bypassed and no longer considered to carry its sanctity. Pancasila is positioned as threats to the efforts to develop exclusive practices.

These are the main challenges as we enter the second year of the pandemic: recovering lost learning, narrowing learning gaps, anticipating drop-outs and returning them to school.

Pancasila and Indonesian language education should be carried out simultaneously to respond to the needs and demands of the times, as well as strengthen our identity as a nation.
