Animal Protein for Children
The provision of animal protein is very important in the diet as a complement to breast milk. The animal protein should also be given in the proper amount as needed.
In every portion of food as a complement to breast milk (ASI) for infants, the intake of animal protein should be the “lead player” consumed. The other intakes such as fruits and vegetables merely serve as “reserve players”. This is important to ensure the optimum growth of babies. The risk of undernourishment and stunting can also be prevented.
