Nurturing the Spirit of Sacrifice

Idul Adha teaches us the meaning of sacrifice. In the name of God, humans must sincerely sacrifice for the sake of a better life through willingness “to slaughter” their ego and own interests.

The Prophet Ibrahim showed his willingness to submit to divine order at any costs. Interpreting his dream that he was commanded to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail, he prepared to do it. On the other hand, Ismail was sincerely willing to fulfill Allah's order as conveyed by his father.
