The reestablishment of civilian supremacy was marked by the separation of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police through the second amendment to the 1945 Constitution, the stipulation of Peopleโ€™s Consultative Assembly Decree No. 6/2000 and the ratification of Law No. 34/2004 on the TNI and Law No. 2/2002 on the National Police. Since then, civilian supremacy has been a central doctrine in relation to civilian control over military power.
