Crowds of people watching various competitions in commemoration of Papua New Guinea\'s independence in Suki.

The independence day anniversary of Papua New Guinea (PNG) is celebrated as a five-day to two-week holiday across the country. In Suki, a remote and quiet rural area in the interior of Western Province, celebrations opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 5 p.m.

Throughout the day on the main court, rugby, volleyball and basketball competitions were held. The music that was played loudly in a rumbling tone was disco music. Accompanying the blaring music, the women danced on the outskirts.
