The Papua New Guinea flag is raised during the celebration of Papua New Guinea\'s Independence in Suki, Papua New Guinea.

In Papua New Guinea (PNG), Independence Day, which is celebrated every 16 September, is the countryโ€™s most important holiday beside Christmas. Celebrations are held across the country, enjoying five days to two weeks of holidays.

I had the chance to experience PNG\'s independence celebrations in Suki, which is the regional government center in the middle of the Fly River. As the sun began to rise, about 300 villagers lined up to enter a field. Most of them were women, almost all barefoot.
