JAKARTA, KOMPAS โ€” Up to 23 members of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the 2014-2019 period are again competing in the 2019 legislative election, but through parties that are different from the ones they represented in the 2014 general election. This phenomenon cannot be separated from the political pragmatism of the candidates and political parties.

Based on data from the General Elections Commission (KPU), out of the 23 DPR members for the 2014-2019 period who changed their parties, 18 moved to the NasDem Party, two to the National Awakening Party (PKB), and one each to the Berkarya Party of, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and Gerindra Party.
