JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The government and the House of Representatives have promised that the inclusion of several articles on special crimes in the Criminal Code (KUHP) Bill will not weaken efforts to eradicate the crimes, including corruption, terrorism, gross human rights violations, money laundering and drug crimes. However, their pledge has done little to dissuade public doubts that efforts to eradicate corruption will be undermined by the inclusion of corruption articles in the bill.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that it had sent five letters to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to persuade him to drop the corruption articles from the bill.
