The draft Criminal Code bill (RKUHP) is expected to be passed into law at today’s House of Representatives’ plenary session. Some of the bill’s provisions are appropriate, while others are still controversial.

The House of Representatives of deliberation agreed to carry on with the next session for the ratification of the Criminal Code bill (RKUHP), although the two factions gave their approval with caution.

It is indeed difficult to formulate the RKUHP in a country with such diverse ethnic groups, religions and cultures. The writer encourages the government to keep improving the quality of law enforcement personnel.

In fact, the latest draft of the revised Criminal Code Law was completed during the 2014-2019 service period of the House of Representatives.

Efforts to renew the colonial-era legal code, which had been in effect since 1918, were codified through Law No. 1/1946. The law was renamed the KUHP and has been in force since 1963.

The RKUHP is still considered to contain a number of issues that could cause problems without in-depth revisions.

"Poena ad paucos, metus ad omnes perveniat", means that punishment may come to a few, the fear of it should affect all.

The Constitutional Court\'s decision was accepted by all parties.
