Utut Adianto of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction takes his seat among the chairs for House leaders after his inauguration during a plenary session in Jakarta on Tuesday (20/3). Utut has been installed as a House deputy speaker following the revision of Law No. 17/2014 on Legislative Institutions (MD3) into Law No. 2/2018.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The inauguration of Utut Adianto as a deputy speaker at the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Tuesday marked the start of the addition of the number of leaders of legislative bodies as a consequence of the implementation of Law No. 2/2018 on legislative institutions (MD3).

The addition of the number of deputy speakers in the legislative institutions will result in an increase in the budget burden, but it will not necessarily bring a positive impact on the performance of the institution.
