KPK deputy for graft prevention Pahala Nainggolan (second right) visits the Kompas newspaper office at the Kompas Gramedia Building in Jakarta, Tuesday (8/8). The visit, which was welcomed by Kompas Newspaper chief editor Budiman Tanuredjo, involved discussions about corruption prevention in the management of village funds.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Village, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Minister Eko Putro Sanjoyo and Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo have agreed to strengthen the supervision of village funds by making the most of the role of supervisory bodies and the people. They have agreed not to form a new supervisory body.
They believe the formation of a new body would not guarantee that corruption involving village funds would not reoccur. “This is because it is not supervision that is the problem. This is a matter of corruption, the mentality of certain individuals. For supervision, we have been monitoring, using up to four layers. There is the provincial inspectorate, regency inspectorate, village empowerment agency, and heads of districts,” said Eko when he met Tjahjo in the Home Ministry , Jakarta, Thursday (10/8).
