The karst caves in Maros-Pangkep, South Sulawesi, are believed to have been the prehistoric home of the Austromelanesoid people long before Austronesian speakers ever set foot in the region.

The cave is at the feet of a 100-m karst hill. Between the karst hill and the road are vast rice fields belonging to residents. The water spring from Leang Timpuseng serves as a water source for irrigation.
