The government initiative to import rice to stabilize prices and prevent inflation has been tainted by the evil deeds of people making personal gains.

The government will import 200,000 tonnes of rice by the end of 2022 so that it will have sufficient rice reserves to effectively intervene in the market.

The government has realized rice imports to cope with the increasingly critical availability of rice nationwide toward year-end.

Responding to the commotion over the plan to import one million tons of rice, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo finally intervened to explain that there would be no rice imports until June 2021.
