Many Regions Flooded

Floodwaters cover Kilometer Markers 603-604 along the Kertosono-Ngawi toll road on Thursday (3/07/2019) in Balerejo district, Madiun regency, East Java. The flood made one lane of the roll road impassable, and the contraflow lane reversal was applied to the opposite lane heading towards Surabaya and Ngawi. Thirty-eight villages in eight districts of Madiun regency were flooded at a maximum height of 3 meters.

MADIUN, KOMPAS – Fifteen regencies in East Java are flooded, with Madiun being the worst hit: at least 38 villages in eight districts are inundated. Extreme rainfall and critical land are believed to be the causes.

Prolonged extreme rainfall, combined with poor drainage and saturated earth unable to absorb rainwater, has caused flooding in a number of regions.
