In the Big Indonesian Dictionary, the lexical lemma has three meanings, namely (1) related to words; (2) related to lexemes; and (3) related to vocabulary. Now, imagine if we only knew the word candy to represent the meaning of all sweets made from sugar. How dry a writing or conversation would be. There is no variation in it. No sweets, no confectionery. This is where the importance of lexical variation lies.

In the Indonesian language, lexical variation or variation related to words plays an important role in reflecting the cultural, social, and geographical diversity of the archipelago. By accommodating various words and terms originating from regional languages, Indonesian, as the national and unifying language, is ensured to have a unique and dynamic lexical richness.
