Awaiting Shared Merit of Economic Equitability

A Kompas survey on national leadership in the economic field in May shows the public is generally satisfied with the government's performance in equitable regional development, albeit with a number of caveats.

There is still a lot to do for the government, especially in the provision of jobs to reduce unemployment. On the other hand, although food prices and stocks are being kept relatively under control, the government is still relying on imports for the domestic needs of rice and sugar, leaving their prices, including that of cooking oil, prone to fluctuation

Equitable development is indeed imperative to overcome economic discrepancies between regions in Indonesia. The government has been gearing up for it, among other ways, through the development of infrastructure and industrial areas. This is expected to be able to help facilitate economic activities in the regions, encourage investment and create jobs.
