Major Milestone for Football Reforms
The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) begins a new era with Erick Thohir. With his track record, Erick will be able to reform Indonesian soccer, which has been riddled with a number of complex issues.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS โ State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir was voted chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for the 2023-2027 period, answering the publicโs calls for the improvement of national soccer. He is deemed to have the capacity and means to make reforms within the PSSI body.
The former president of the Italian football club Inter Milan surpassed his competitors at the PSSI extraordinary congress (KLB) on Thursday (16/2/2023), namely La Nyalla Mattalitti, Doni Setiabudi and Arif Putra Wicaksono. Erick won the majority with 64 votes, La Nyalla received 22 votes, while Doni and Arif did not get any support from the 86 voters.
