As in previous years, the National Press Day or HPN is commemorated by the press community. In 2023, the HPN celebration in Medan was attended by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

Participants of the National Mass Media Convention: Opportunities in a Challenging Year take a group photo in a series of activities to commemorate National Press Day (HPN) in Medan, North Sumatra, Wednesday (8/2/2023).

While discussing contemporary issues in the media industry such as the digital disruption causing a major change in the press industry, media convergence, the influence of artificial intelligence and the world of journalism, the HPN occasion became a reunion for the press community and a number of entrepreneurs and politicians.

Amid uncertainties about the press industry’s future as a result of the digital disruption that affects the business and quality of journalism, the press community in particular and the public in general, the HPN commemoration seemed appropriate for self-introspection.
