JAKARTA, KOMPAS β€” The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), on Wednesday evening (11/1/2023), officially arrested the governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe. He has been declared a suspect in a case of alleged corruption for receiving gratuities of Rp 1 billion (US$64,816.45) in connection to infrastructure-development projects in the province. Even after detaining Lukas, the KPK will continue to develop his case and other cases, including the parties allegedly involved.

Lukas' detention was officially conveyed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta, on Wednesday. Lukas was detained for the first 20 days from 11 January 2023 to 30 January 2023 at the KPK Detention Center at Pomdam Jaya Guntur.
