The grandiose and populist "cultural event", the recent wedding of President Joko Widodo's son, received many comments. The majority was amazed and appreciative, with some calling the event the grandest “royal wedding” in Indonesia’s history. This term sparked controversy, because “royal” is usually used for the nobility.

My father, Ir. R.M. Sarjadi Hardjosoepoetro, may his soul rest in peace, was a rural nobleman from the Mangkunegaran clan. He fought the war for independence as a member of the Indonesian Student Army (TRIP), and obtained an agriculture degree.
