Three Countries Invest in MRT Phase 3 and Phase 4
Investors from Japan, United Kingdom and South Korea will be involved in the construction of the new MRT line. The project feasibility study is targeted for completion in 2023 and construction can begin in 2024.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi confirmed that investors from Japan and the United Kingdom will participate in the construction of mass rapid transit’s (MRT) East-West Corridor while South Korea will become the investor for the MRT’s Fatmawati-TMII phase 4 construction. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed during the Group of Twenty (G20) events next month.
After welcoming acting governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, at the Transportation Ministry building, on Monday (24/10/2022), Budi Karya explained that the MRT phase 3 or the East-West Corridor will pass through West Java, Jakarta and Banten. Stretching for 87 kilometers, the MRT’s East-West Corridor will connect Cikarang in West Java to Balaraja in Banten.
