A pharmacy staff took syrup medicines off from self in Kendari, South East Sulawesi, Wednesday (19/10/2022). Ministry of Health has temporary banned the use of syrup medicine, follow the outbreak of misterious failure desease among children.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Initial examinations and investigations by the Health Ministry have found that the atypical progressive acute kidney injury (AKI) in a number of children in Indonesia was due to their exposure to solvent substances in the syrup liquid they consumed.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (21/10/2022), said that various examinations had been carried out to find the cause of the AKI, which appeared to have no link with pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria or parasites.
