President to Golkar: Don't Take too Long to Decide on a Presidential Candidate

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo believes that the Golkar Party is a mature political institution when it comes to making any decision.

President Joko Widodo took speach in 58th Golkar Party anniversary in JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Friday (21/10/2022).

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Golkar, which is now in alliance with the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP) in the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), is also believed to be thoughtful, thorough and careful in selecting presidential and vice presidential candidates. However, it is hoped that Golkar will not spend a long time determining the candidate for the leadership in the 2024 Presidential Election.

In his speech at the Golkar Party's 58th anniversary event at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Friday (21/10/2022), President Jokowi stressed that the president and vice president are like pilots and co-pilots who are responsible for their passengers. The presidential election is a mechanism for selecting the people who will fill the two positions.
