Many people on Wetar Island describe Laurindo Dos Santos as a soldier who is always present to help local communities. Santos dedicates himself beyond what is required of a member of the military.
Laurindo Dos Santos, 44, started as a paramilitary in East Timor to realize his dream since he was a junior high school student to become a military soldier. Now, after more than 23 years as a serviceman, he dedicates himself not only to military duties but also to helping people in the frontier regions to overcome their difficulties.
Behind the house of Dince Lodwakla, 40, a resident of Ilwaki village, Wetar Island, Southwest Maluku regency, Maluku, a well has been built. The newly constructed well is equipped with a suction pump, a water vessel and two water taps.
