When she was a baby, Herlin, now 27, was already in the midst of mass production of earthenware in her village. However, as she grew up, pottery-making was rarely even heard of, with only a handful of pomanduno (craftspeople) left. She has been striving to restore earthenware as a regional identity, at the same time fighting against the stigma attached to the profession.

A building without doors is standing on the roadside in Lipu subdistrict, Betoambari, Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi. A signboard with the words “Galeri Pomandu” is installed in front of it.
