Govt Urged to Intensify Law Enforcement Operations
According to Arsul, the violence in Papua has been categorized as a gross human rights violation.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS - The attack conducted by an armed criminal group that killed 10 residents of Nogolait village, Kenyam district, Nduga regency, Papua, was not only a gross violation of human rights, but also a movement of treason and terrorism. The government needs to intensify law enforcement operations, in addition to dialogue efforts, to resolve the problems in Papua.
Strict law enforcement is needed not only in dealing with the actions of armed criminal groups (KKB) in Nduga, but also in dealing with other violent acts that continue to occur often in Papua and West Papua. This includes law enforcement against the illegal sales of ammunition and firearms to KKB, which is believed to be one of the sources of violence.
