Puncak Toll Is Not the Only Solution
The second reason is the road infrastructure to Puncak and the surrounding areas, which is unable to catch up with the increase in the number of private vehicles in recent years.
The construction of a toll road has been proposed as a solution to overcome congestion in Puncak, West Java. This is not a final solution because congestion still occurs on other toll roads.
The Puncak area as a tourism magnet, especially for residents in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), has attracted attention again due to severe traffic jams on weekends and holidays. The last time, in order to prevent traffic jams at Puncak, the government appealed to state civil servants (ASN) to work from home in early May, coinciding with the peak of the Lebaran (Idul Fitri) return from mudik (exodus) (Kompas, 7/5/2022).
