Hutajulu Sleeps with a Firearm
Etha Hutajulu (52), the woman who lives on the outskirts of Kyiv also experienced bullets and missiles flying over her home for several weeks. However, love kept her in Ukraine.

Arriving in Kyiv in February 2019, Etha married Viktor Sklifas (62), a retired Soviet Air Force fighter pilot. Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union before the communist state dissolved in 1991. The couple lives in Vynohradar, 10 kilometers from the center of Kyiv.
Etha’s home is less than 500 meters from the Retroville shopping center and 17 km from the Hostomel Air Base. Both Retroville and Hostomel were targeted in Russian attacks in the early weeks after the war broke out on 24 Feb. 2022.
