Respecting parents is part of the national culture. The Law on Elderly Welfare has long been in place, but its implementation is still minimal.

In conjunction with the National Day of the Elderly on 29 May 2022, the Kompas daily discussed this matter in the article headlined โ€œI'm Not Old, but Seniorโ€. The article depicts how many senior citizens are struggling to remain productive in their old age, according to their individual capabilities.
