As a consequence of not holding regional head elections in 2022 and 2023, several regions will be led by acting regional heads starting 15 May.
Acting regional heads will be assuming their posts on May 15, starting from Bangka Belitung, Banten, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi and West Papua, which will then continue throughout six cities and 37 districts on 22 May. These numbers will continue to grow until 101 regions will be led by an acting official by the end of the year, followed by 171 more regions in 2023.
