JAKARTA, KOMPAS โ€” In the absence of a regional House of Representatives (DPR) in the design of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), the government plans to establish a so-called Community Representatives Council. The council, which will represent elements of the East Kalimantan community, is to function by absorbing public aspirations and complaints concerning the planning, development, and relocation of the new capital city.

The IKN Relocation projectโ€™s legal and institutional working group head at the National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Agency, Diani Sadiawati, said that the draft Presidential Regulation (Raperpres) on the IKN Authority contained stipulations that regulated the participation of local communities. Public participation in the IKN was facilitated through the establishment of the Community Representatives Council.
