Mobility of workers while queuing for the arrival of Transjakarta Buses at Harmoni bus stop, Jakarta, Thursday (30/12/2021). Entering 2022, the Government again reminds the public to increase awareness by reducing mobility due to the discovery of local transmission of the Omicron variant.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The year 2022 began with hopes of improvement in line with the declining curve of Covid-19 transmissions and a recovering economy. Even so, the beginning of the new year was still overshadowed by uncertainty over the spread of the Omicron variant. The public also welcomed the new year with cautious optimism. As 2022 began, the Covid-19 pandemic remained a national emergency.

On 31 Dec. 2021, President Joko Widodo declared through the issuance of Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 24/2021 that Covid-19, which was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020, was in fact still a national emergency.
