JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contribute a big portion of Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP), reaching 61 percent. However, the majority of MSMEs that serve as the backbone of the economy are micro businesses in the informal sector, not creditworthy and have comparatively low productivity. In order to ensure the “promotion” of MSMEs, collaboration is needed between the government and the private sector or between MSMEs.

This was the thread of thought pursued at CEO Live Series #4: Digital Infrastructure for SMEs’ Role in Economic Recovery, held by Kompas on Tuesday (16/11/2021). Speaking at the discussion were Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki, Telkom Indonesia digital business director Fajrin Rasyid, BNI senior executive vice president for digital business Rian Eriana Kaslan, LinkAja marketing director Wibawa Prasetyawan, and Blibli CEO and cofounder Kusumo Martanto.
