Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) in Bandung Regency, Thursday (30/9/2021). The first geothermal power plant in Indonesia, which has been operating since 1982, is an example of the use of new and renewable energy sources.

The continuous operation of the countryโ€™s first geothermal power plant, PLTP Kamojang, depends on the availability of water in its surrounding area. Part of the local farming community has been empowered to grow coffee to conserve the water reabsorption zone and harvest sustainable energy.

A cool breeze from Mount Guntur accompanied Sudarman, 55, as he walks into a coffee plantation adjacent to PLTP Kamojang on Thursday morning (30/9/2021) in Ibun district, Bandung regency. The coffee trees are flowering on the plantation, located 1,500 meters above sea level.
