The scenery around the Fly River on the way from Lewada to Suki, Papua New Guinea.

It had been almost a week since I left Daru on my way to the upstream areas of the Fly River, but I had only reached Lewada, about 80 km from the river’s mouth. The situation was starting to make me anxious.

Several days later, I got a ride on a motorboat belonging to the NGO World Vision from Daru which had happened to stop in Lewada. Their destination was the large village of Suki, located about half way up the Fly River.
