Is there any public hope left for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)? This question could also be phrased as: Is it still necessary to pin bits of hope on version five of the KPK, chaired by Firli Bahuri?

Such a question and many others have been circulating in the public, especially since mid-April 2021. This was when the KPK threw itself in the epicenter of a commotion that had initially been an internal affair before creeping out and getting the attention of anticorruption activists, institutions, professors and President Joko β€œJokowi” Widodo.
