Trading activities at the garment and apparel center of Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta, Friday (7/2/2020). At the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, this market was closed.

Economies may plummet in several provinces, especially West Java and Central Java, due to their reliance on the textile and textile products (TPT) industry. This is despite the industry’s rise to dominance in the past few years and priority status in the Making Indonesia 4.0 framework.

Among the government’s reasons for prioritizing the TPT industry is its huge contribution to trade. The TPT industry also produces export commodities that contribute to the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
