JAKARTA, KOMPAS β€” The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the face of the economy and the welfare of the people. Economic growth is projected to plummet, unemployment is expected to rise and poverty rates increase.

Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), there were 24.79 million poor people in Indonesia in September 2019 or 9.22 percent of Indonesia\'s population. As of August 2019, there were 7.05 million unemployed or 5.28 percent of the workforce in Indonesia, which totaled 133.56 million people.
