PANDEGLANG, KOMPAS -- Due to the absence of an early warning signal, locals and tourists had no time to escape the Banten-Lampung tsunami.

Latest data on Sunday at 10 p.m. revealed that the tsunami that hit Banten and Lampung on Saturday night took 223 lives, with Banten’s Pandeglang regency being the worst-hit area. The absence of an early warning signal meant that locals and tourists had no time to save themselves or their belongings.
