Workers put the finishing touches on the Semarang-Solo toll road in the Salatiga-Kartasura section near Kenteng Kali bridge, Susukan district, Semarang regency, Central Java, on Thursday (13/12/2018). The 32.6-kilometer toll road, which will begin operating on Dec. 20, is expected to facilitate the flow of vehicles during school holidays, Christmas and New Year.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS β€” The government is ready to open the Trans-Java toll road, which connects Merak in Banten to Surabaya in East Java, to facilitate the flow of traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays. However, anticipatory measures were still needed at a number of spots with the potential for long queues of vehicles.

Of the total 870 kilometers of the Trans-Java toll road, 640 km are already open. On Dec. 20, the government will open four additional toll road sections that span 180 km: the 33 km Pemalang-Batang section, Batang-Semarang (75 km), Salatiga-Solo (33 km) and the Wilangan-Kertosono (39 km).
