Farmer Waryono, 49, shows on Friday (27/7/2018) soil in his rice paddy that has cracked and dried from the ongoing drought in Karangmulya village of Kandanghaur district, Indramayu regency, West Java. It is feared that at least 2,000 hectares of rice fields in the districts of Kandanghaur and Losarang will fail to produce a harvest this season.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The National Development Planning Ministry/ National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) is still drafting the National Medium-Term Development Plan 2020-2024 (RPJMN 2020-2024) for the forestry sector.

The development planners must change the forest exploitation concept to save forests for human life. Forests, which store carbon from carbon dioxide they absorb from the atmosphere, are now the only hope to save the earth from the threat of climate change.
