JAKARTA, KOMPAS β€” Advocating the use of bahasa Indonesia as the national language in public spaces requires a legal basis in the form of bylaws. Moreover, the absorption of words from regional languages into official Indonesian needs to be encouraged.

This point was raised in a workshop on the assessment and evaluation of linguistic and literary developments held by the Language Development and Fostering Agency of the Education and Culture Ministry in Jakarta on Monday (10/12/2018).
