JAKARTA, KOMPASThree days after being named as a suspect, the deputy speaker of the House and National Awakening Party (PAN) politician, Taufik Kurniawan, was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday. He was arrested after being questioned by the KPK.

The legal process against Taufik did not only make him the third person in the legislature in the 2014 to 2019 period  to be legally processed by the KPK, but also showed the KPK’s quick legal response with regards to the suspect who was not caught red-handed. The other legislative leaders are the former speaker of the Regional Representative Council, Irman Gusman, and former speaker of the House Setya Novanto.
