The General Elections Commission\'s (KPU) attempt to prevent former corruption convicts from becoming legislative candidates has been shot down. The Supreme Court has overturned the KPU regulation.

The KPU banned former graft  convicts from becoming legislative candidates through KPU regulations No. 20/2018 and No. 26/2018. The ban was expected to be effective in producing representatives with integrity. The KPU\'s move was supported by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and anticorruption activists.
