JAKARTA, KOMPAS β The Judicial Commission (KY) has received complaints from several regional justices who feel burdened by having to sponsor teams for the Supreme Court (MA) Chief Justice Cup, a national tennis championship. This year, the thrice-yearly championship is to be held on Sept. 10-15 in Bali.
MA Cup tennis teams sponsorship is not the only contribution to burden regional justices. They are also expected to gather funds, including from employees, to organize tennis tournaments to mark the retirement of a high court chairman or in welcoming the regional visits of Supreme Court justices.
Judicial Commission spokesperson Farid Wajdi said on Tuesday (11/09/2019), when contacted from Jakarta, that the commission was looking into the complaints, which could be a stain on the accountability and credibility of the judiciary.
