Owi-Butet Duo Optimistic Ahead of Asian Games

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Tontowi “Owi” Ahmad and Liliyana “Butet” Natsir have become the first Indonesian mixed doubles pair in 20 years to win the Indonesia Open badminton championship more than once. The victory boosted the pair’s optimism about clinching gold at the upcoming Asian Games.

Owi and Butet defeated Malaysians Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying, 21-17, 21-8, at the mixed doubles finals of the Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 at Senayan Sports Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday (8/7/2018). In men’s doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamulyo won their first Indonesia Open title by defeating the Japanese pair of Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko, 21-13, 21-16.
