Singer Melanie Soebono and other activists from the Coalition of Civil Society for the KPK stage a rally and musical performance in front of Jakarta’s Merdeka Palace on Wednesday (11/4/2018) to commemorate 365 days since KPK chief investigator Novel Baswedan was attacked with acid. They demanded the President to set up a fact-finding team on the case, which has seen very little progress in the current investigation.

It was such a relief to hear President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s statement in his capacity as the head of state and the head of government, as Kompas reported last year on Apr. 12. On the morning of Tuesday, Apr. 11, 2017, unknown assailants threw acid on Novel’s face. Novel was taken to a Singapore hospital to receive treatment on his damaged eye.
