JAKARTA, KOMPAS β The fundamental issue in economic development during the post-1998 reform era is ineffective policy. One of the main causes is the political environment, which does not support the growth of effective policy.
An effective policy is focused, sustainable, coherent and rational. The reference is not theory, but the actual experience of policies under the New Order government. This was the reflection and the main message from Boediono, former vice president in 2009-2014, at a discussion held Wednesday (28/3) by Bank Indonesia (BI) in Jakarta. Other speakers of the discussion were BI Governor Agus DW Martowardojo and Fiscal Policy Agency head Suahasil Nazara of the Finance Ministry.
